EVO Visian ICL™

See Life in Full Detail

The EVO Visian ICL ™ (Intraocular Collamer Lens) is a revolutionary technology and a proven alternative for patients who are not suitable candidates for laser vision correction because of thin corneas.

The EVO Visian ICL ™ (Intraocular Collamer Lens) is a revolutionary technology and a proven alternative for patients who are not suitable candidates for laser vision correction because of thin corneas.

This very thin, soft, flexible lens made of Collamer (an advanced lens material that is highly biocompatible) is placed behind the iris of the eye and works with the eye’s natural lens to correct a range of vision problems.

Easy 20–30 Minute Procedure

A quick, painless same-day surgery to help you achieve better vision.

About The EVO Visian ICL™ Procedure

The EVO Visian ICL™ is best for patients who have corneas that are too thin for LASIK. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and can provide patients with clear vision results equal to LASIK. Dr. Fornefeld will make a small incision on the cornea and insert the foldable lens between the iris and the eye's natural lens. The procedure will take about 20 to 30 minutes per eye, and will only require topical anesthesia. The EVO Visian ICL ™ will stay in place after the procedure and will be completely unnoticeable.

Am I a candidate for The EVO Visian ICL™?

If you are between the ages of 21 and 45 and are nearsighted, you may be a good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL™. It is important that Dr. Fornefeld exams your eyes personally to determine if you are a candidate. It is preferred that patients have not had any previous eye surgeries, and do not suffer from any ophthalmic diseases.

If you are a patient with thin corneas not suitable for LASIK and suffer from nearsightedness, you may be a candidate for this procedure. If you are interested in determining your candidacy for the EVO Visian ICL™ please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Tired of Dealing with Dry Eye?

EVO ICL does not cause contact lens induced dry eye nor dry eye syndrome, which could mean a more comfortable journey as you achieve visual freedom.

What you need to know about the EVO Visian ICL™

How do I know if I am a candidate?

A good candidate for the EVO Visian ICL™ is a patient between the ages of 21 and 45 who is nearsighted. It is preferable that the patient has not had previous eye surgery or a history of ophthalmic diseases such as glaucoma, iritis, or diabetic retinopathy. Our practice offers a complimentary screening to determine if you are a candidate for this exciting procedure.

Where in the eye is the Visian ICL placed?

The EVO Visian ICL™. is surgically inserted inside the eye just behind the iris in front of the eye’s natural lens. The EVO Visian ICL™ does not touch any internal eye structure and stays in position without maintenance, indefinitely.

What is the track record of the EVO Visian ICL™?

Extensive research and development preceded the introduction of the EVO Visian ICL™. It is now being used by more than 2 MILLION worldwide. The satisfaction rate among patients is extremely high – above 99%. Does it hurt?

No. Most patients state that they are very comfortable throughout the procedure. We use a topical anesthetic drop prior to the procedure. A light sedative is given prior to the procedure.

Can the EVO Visian ICL™ be seen by the naked eye?

No. The lens is positioned behind the iris where it is invisible to both you and observers. You enjoy a cosmetic appearance that is completely natural. Only your doctor will be able to tell that you’ve had vision correction.

What is the EVO Visian ICL made of?

The EVO Visian ICL™ is made of Collamer which is an advanced lens material that is highly biocompatible. Collamer does not cause a reaction inside the eye and it contains an ultraviolet filter that provides protection to the eye.

What is involved in the EVO Visian ICL™ procedure?

The actual EVO Visian ICL™ procedure typically takes approximately 20 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis, although you will need to have someone with you to drive you home from the procedure. Normally, a very little discomfort is associated with this procedure. A light topical drop anesthetic is administered and a mild sedative is given. In addition, eye drops will be prescribed. You will come back to our office for a follow up visit the day after your procedure, and at one week and one month. Further follow-ups are scheduled as needed.

How long does the EVO Visian ICL™ stay in my eye?

The EVO Visian ICL™ is intended to remain in place within your eye without any maintenance.

Can the EVO Visian ICL™ be felt once it is in my eye?

No, the lens is not noticeable after it is put in place. It does not attach to any structures within the eye and it stays in position.
